Introduction
Meloxicam, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, an NSAID. As an NSAID, meloxicam is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic. It is a selective inhibitor of cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2). It is used to treat pain and inflammation in rheumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Dosage
It is used by mouth or by injection into a vein. It is recommended that it be used for as short a period as possible and at a low dose.
In the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis: Oral: 15 mg daily as a single dose. hose with an increased risk of adverse reactions should be started on 7.5 mg daily. A dose of 7.5 mg daily is recommended for long-term treatment in the elderly.
In the treatment of acute exacerbations of osteoarthritis: Oral: 7.5 mg daily. Increased if necessary, to a maximum of 15 mg daily as a single dose.
