- Reduce risk of stroke and systemic embolism in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
- Prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) after hip or knee replacement surgery
- Reduce risk of recurrent DVT and PE

- Nonvalvular atrial fibrillation: 5 mg orally twice daily
- DVT/PE prevention after surgery: 2.5 mg orally twice daily
- DVT/PE treatment: 10 mg orally twice daily for 7 days, then 5 mg twice daily
- Reduce risk of recurrent DVT/PE: 2.5 mg orally twice daily
