Centrally acting antihypertensives

They are used in the management of hypertension. Stimulation of alpha2 adrenoceptors in the CNS results in a reduction in sympathetic tone and a fall in blood pressure.

Brimonidine is alpha2-adrenoceptor agonist that is used in the management of glaucoma.
